우리의 강원도 첫번째 여행지는 대한민국에서 가장 높은지대에 있는 용연동굴이다.
해발 920M에 위치하고 있으며 용연동굴이 일반인들에게 공개된 연대는 확실히 알 수 없으나 동굴 깊은 곳에 임진왜란 때 피난했다는 내력의 붓글씨가 있다고 하여 전해 오는 말로는 의병의 본부 역할을 하였으며 국가 변란시 피난처였다고 한다.

동굴내부 중간중간 앉아서 이동해야 할정도로 낮은 곳이 있기때문에 안전모는 필수이다.

우리가 동굴에 들어가기전 날씨가 매우 좋아 반팔 반바지 차림으로 들어갔으나 보시다시피 내부온도는 0℃이다.
바닥이 미끄러울수 있으니 편한 신발과 겉옷을 챙겨가는것을 추천한다.

누가 작명을 했는지는 모르겠지만 이름을 짓느라 많은 고생을 했을것같다.

총 관람소요 시간은 40-50분정도 이며 노약자가 아니라면 큰 무리는 없을것같다.
관람이 끝난후 아쉬운점이 있다면 굴에대해 잘 알지못하는 사람이 간다면 그냥 굴을 한바퀴 돌아보고 끝인 느낌이다.
문화관광해설사 분이 동굴밖에 계셨지만 동행은 하시지는 않았다.
만약 굴에대한 조금 더 자세한 설명이 곁들어 진다면 좀 더 유익하고 재밋는 시간이 될 수 있을거라 생각한다.
The viewing area is about 40 to 50 minutes, and if you're not old and weak, there's no big crowd.

A culture and tourism commentator was outside the cave, but he did not accompany her.
I think it would be a more informative and fun time if it were accompanied by a more detailed explanation of the oysters.
